OMG a Recipe: Mixing Things Up at the Hobbit Ultralounge

It's a oft-said saying that Nature abhors a vacuum, and that's true for many things, even with food and drink. If you stick with a narrow menu of items, even if they're your favorite things to eat or drink, you're missing out on a world of possibilities. I'm the most guilty of this vacuum, settling into Hobbit-like comfort zones and not always being on top of the latest and greatest things, most notably with beverages of the adult persuasion. But laziness – begone! I've been fortunate enough to take my drinking palate out on the town of late and reminding myself that one should never settle for a simple vodka soda... ever. It's long overdue I mixed things up again.

FoodTrek: Treat Yo Self! Brunch and Wine Tasting

Summer may have waned, but you can also count the summer rush of visitors mellowing as well, which makes it all the more reason to be a leisurely tourist in your own town. Less traffic, less hassle, more fun times to be had, even for the rainy days ahead, because there is no rain on your parade when you do brunch and wine tasting in the Wood-Hood, aka Woodinville.

OMG a Recipe: I Can Haz Mac and Cheezeburger

In the beginning, there was bread and ground beef. And that begat the almighty Hamburger. And this was anointed with cheese, and thus begat the Cheeseburger. And from that holy union came forth... the Macaroni and Cheeseburger. *cue angelic light and choir music*

FoodTrek: Wasabi in Ciderland

When you happen upon a giant toadstool and a sample of cider in front of you, without the invitation of "Eat Me/Drink Me," the answer is clear: Drink the Cider. A few days of heavy rain produced some impressive, albeit deadly mycological delights in the South Lake Union Discovery Center Lawn, but the sun came out to shine at this year's Cider Summit Seattle. So follow the White Rabbit, we're heading to Ciderland.

FoodTrek: Rib-PAX-alypse Now

Wanna know what the worst thing is about a pork rib cook-off? Absolutely nothing. Especially when you're not cooking, you're just eating, and enjoying a Saturday afternoon. The Mister and I were fresh from this year's Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), with the distinct scent of  video game Nerdery and Geekery (aka, human body odor) lingering upon us, so we cleansed ourselves in the smoky fires of Ribpocalypse!

Mixed Plate: Summer Lovin', Happened So Fast!

For as much as I complain about the heat of summer, or rather, our inability to adjust to the return of the blazing orb in the sky called, The Sun, it's probably the most active time of the year for us Pacific Northwesternites. I literally couldn't keep up with the summertime points of interest on the blog, so I decided to hit the Montage button, and just say a big, huge THANK YOU, SUMMER! Because it'll probably take all winter for us to recover in time for next year's summer. Despite the waning days of August, we'll likely have a summery September to look forward to. Summertime - Onwards!
